The BRO-SIS Criminal Justice Intervention Service (CJIS) & Youth Empowerment Programme (YEP) are programmes designed to work with adults and young people - creating an environment for better choices when tackling the issues of crime, sexual health, HIV/AIDS, social exclusion, disadvantage and substance misuse.
The BRO-SIS Research Department is funded by the Home Office as part of the Government DIP Programme and is in discussions with West Midlands Police/Community Safety Partnership regardin funding work done with those on the Prolific and other Priority Offenders (PPO) scheme. BRO-SIS is currently working with PPOs from the F1, F2 & F3 OCU, and offenders from the D1, D2, D3, E1 and E2 OCUs.
YEP and CJIS were set up to take an holistic approach to young people and adults, recognising the need for a free service that supports them with ALL their issues or concerns. Through consultation with the community, we recognised the need for an intervention programme for young people who are experiencing exclusion or who are on the verge of facing exclusion.
We held further consultations with young people, adults, community groups, local authorities and partner organisations and identified a gap in such services. Therefore, we have now provided mentors and key workers to support and work closely with The Youth Offending Service, National Probation Service, Education Authority, local community groups and individuals to address these issues.
We offer various information, advice and support and have forged solid partnerships by working with external agencies in a multidisciplinary framework. This allows us to offer a 'one-stop shop' that can engage young people and adults, encouraging them into education, employment or training - as well as providing a source of information, advice and support on social issues specifically tailored to meet individual needs.
Young People and adults have access to all our services and activities once they have signed up to, or been referred onto, CJIS or YEP. Both services include an in-depth support plan, Confidentiality Agreement, information sharing protocols and Client Agreement.
