MISSION STATEMENT
Jamaica AIDS Support (JAS) is dedicated to preserving the dignity and rights of persons living with HIV/AIDS and to help in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS by providing education and other interventions - to promote changes in attitudes and behaviours and empower persons to respond positively to the challenges. (IWICC) Ionie Whorms Inner-city Counselling Centre

Ionie Whorms Inner-city Counselling Centre is a non-profit, non-governmental organization which specializes in community development, counselling, prevention and referral services for substance abusers and HIV/AIDS/STI clients. The office is located on the grounds of Fletchers Land Community Centre.

IWICC was founded by a former substance abuser in 1993. IWICC is a home/street based operation. With assistance of devoted community members IWICC had its first Inner-city Drug Awareness Road March in 1994. Due to the media coverage of the Road March, funding and support was given and the doors of IWICC were officially opened on August 30th 1995.

Victim Support Program (Ministry of National Security and Justice)

The Victim Support Program (VSP) of Jamaica, operated by the Ministry of National Security and Justice, is intended to assist persons against whom certain offences have been committed. In each parish, there is a Parish Coordinator and a Social Worker. These persons conduct the work of the Victim Support Program in the parish with the assistance of groups of volunteers selected from each district within the parishes. Portmore Youth Information Centre

The creation of an island-wide network of Youth Information Centres where adolescents can feel comfortable discussing and accessing information on issues concerning them is among a number of initiatives being implemented by the Government of Jamaica in the drive to empower the nation's youth. Operated by the National Centre for Youth Development within the Ministry of Education, Youth and Culture, the Youth Information Centres (YICs) are youth-friendly spaces where young people 10-24, and sometimes as young as eight, can discuss and access information on issues concerning them. Concerns range from drug use, sex, AIDS, available jobs to personal advancement. Up-to-date information is displayed in an adolescent and youth-friendly manner.
